Constructed at the site of the former historic Bay Meadows racing track, this project provides large 2- and 3-bedroom dwellings, for a total of 82 new residential units. Originally entitled by MVE Architects, the building’s exterior aesthetic pays homage to the Mission-style architecture found in and around the San Mateo area, which is reflected in the material palette of stucco, wood trellises and decorative trim of GFRC stone. Green space has been set aside in front and to the side of the property, which also incorporates a public paseo leading to the adjacent Paddock Park. An interior courtyard is divided by bioretention planters into several distinct spaces that incorporate seating areas with BBQs, a pizza oven, and 2 fountains. With a transit-oriented design, residents have access to Caltrain, the 101 freeway, State Route 92 and the San Mateo Bridge.
