Affordable Housing Magazine referred to the 148-unit Riverwood Place SRO, as “affordable chic.” Responding to the need for affordable housing, the project encourages the use of public transportation and incorporates “green architecture” into its design. Aligned along a curved central corridor, the units face a series of exterior courtyards, each different in character and designed to promote community interaction. The courtyards include seating areas, landscaping, and water features. The “bamboo rooms” are key design features that utilize sustainable materials such as bamboo flooring and serve as areas for residents to gather and socialize.
