121 Tasman Drive | San Jose, CA

In San Jose, the site at 121 E Tasman Dr. sits adjacent to the Tasman Station light rail. LCOR saw in that location the chance to build a transit-oriented development (TOD), a community where residents could step from home to regional transit.

Realizing that vision meant fitting 174 units and generous shared space onto a single site. The answer was a 3-story over-podium scheme in VA / IA construction, with residential floors raised above the podium and outdoor space gathered into a central landscaped courtyard. BDE Architecture served as the client's design partner, helping balance density, transit access and the everyday outdoor life of residents within a compact footprint.

The result is a vibrant community with abundant amenity space for residents to enjoy. The lush landscaped courtyard features a pool, a recreation center, ample seating areas and a bocce ball court. Upon completion, the project set a record high for price per unit in the San Jose apartment market at the time, a clear measure of how strongly the market responded to well-designed housing next to transit.
